"I feel like your book is an old friend I've been looking for since childhood."

Hi, I am a 'first-time mother' of twin sons. Often I feel like the boys are one step ahead of me so I am eager to learn about mothering. Mothering Without A Map has proven immensely helpful to me in identifying how my own upbringing affects my mothering. To me, other parenting books seem to focus on how-to and what to do prior to a child or a certain stage. Mothering Without A Map focuses on working with what you have and were given and where to go from here. I am a mom who is willing to ask questions and also one who is willing to being transparent in order to learn and progress which seems key in Mothering Without A Map. The qustion and difficulty to me is How do you find authentic moms who may be willing to 'go there' - in the sense of such a tough topic, rather than just discussing types of diapers and baby food, etc.? I would love to hear if anyone has an idea on this question. The encouraging thing to me is how the Kathyrn Black has proven it can be done. Moms can explore and deal with who they are and yet be very successful and happy with the families they create and mother! Sincerely, MMT
